Camanchaca is a pioneer and one of the founders of the Chilean salmon farming industry. It began operating in the mid-80s with integrated production activities that covered the main links in the value chain. This chain extends from a genetic improvement program for proprietary breeds and production of breeders to supply our own ova, to marketing and sales of a wide variety of salmon products in the world\u2019s main markets. The Company strives to add value to its production and draw closer to buyers around the world.<\/p>\n

Salmones Camanchaca<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, the Company\u2019s salmon subsidiary, promotes and seeks sustainable development of salmon farming. It was a founding member of the Global Salmon Initiative (GSI)<\/span><\/strong><\/a> and the\u00a0<\/span>Chilean Salmon Marketing Council;<\/b><\/span><\/a> as well as the first salmon producer to earn three stars in the Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification. Today, it has four stars and was the first salmon farming company to commit to reducing carbon emissions to zero by 2025. The Company\u2019s stock has been listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange, the world\u2019s leading seafood market, since 2018.<\/p>\n

Atlantic Salmon<\/h4>\n
Atlantic salmon (salmo salar) are found in Europe, the United States and Canada. A cold water, carnivorous fish, it has also been introduced in South America and Oceania. Following the first stage of its life cycle in fresh water, it is moved to the ocean in southern Chile between regions X and XII. These fish reach maturity at 16 months, weighing 5 kilograms and measuring between 60 and 70 cm, and achieve their target weight for sale at 5.5 kilograms. In the wild, their average life expectancy is between 3 to 5 years, though some 10-year-old specimens have been reported, and they die after returning to fresh water rivers to spawn.<\/div><\/div>\n <\/div>\n[\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/2″]\n

Coho Salmon<\/h4>\n
Pacific or Coho salmon (oncorhynchus kisuch) are non-native, carnivorous cold water fish that belong to the salmonoide family. Following the first stage of its life cycle in fresh water, it is taken to ocean grow-out sites in southern Chile between regions X and XII. These fish reach their average commercial weight of 3.5 kilograms in 9 months.
